Next, we believe in the Bible as the written word of God. It is totally and completely God’s word to Humanity (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It tells of His purpose for us, His love for us, and His active work to care for each of us all the way into eternity. He wants us to spend eternity with Him, and so has given us the Bible to show us how to get into a right relationship with Him and to stay in that relationship. He is the main encouragement to living the best life there is as a Christian, and then to have an eternal life of glory with Him in heaven.
We also believe that “church” is a body of people made up of those who have been washed in the blood of the sacrificed Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38-41). It is made up of relationships; relationship with the Godhead, and with God’s people. He gave himself for us, and we give ourselves back to him to serve him out of love and gratitude, according to the teachings of the Bible. As a church of God’s people, we are not perfect, and would never claim to be. We are merely a group of people washed in the blood of Jesus, and who try to be God’s representatives in this world, proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ until he returns.
Very importantly, we believe that the church is to be a "hospital", letting Jesus Christ be the Great Physician, healing souls and giving them life eternal, as well as giving them life now and the power to live that life. As patients brought to Jesus for healing through our response to the Gospel, we in turn want to bring others who are hurting, ailing, and suffering from the maladies the world and Satan throw at us. We are here with one another and for one another. As family, the family of God, it doesn’t matter where you have been or what you have done, through Jesus Christ we live with one another in “newness of life” (Romans 6:4).
We invite you to join us in one of our Sunday morning worship services at 9:30 am. Come back anytime and often. In fact, we would like to see you make the Netherwood Park church of Christ your spiritual home!
